Why Accredited Training?

Carrying out any type of training, such as Forklift or Pallet Trucks to delegates that have never had any formal guidance in correct usage is a legal requirement – This is proven by the fact that about a quarter of all work place accidents involve some sort of lift truck.

As employers, we are all required to provide training and testing for all lift-truck Operators we employ (both new and existing). Correctly trained operators can reduce the risk of lift-truck accidents in the workplace (as described in The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)

As the HSE states “Successful training depends on the competence of instructors. You, as an employer, need to assess the competence of any training organisation you choose, as it is your responsibility to ensure your operators are properly trained.”

So Why choose an RTITB accredited provider?

At Shield Health & Safety, we adhere to and follow the standard of RTITB (Road Transport Industry Training Board). In their words “All of our accreditation, audit, certification, training standards and instructor training services are developed by a team absolutely dedicated to the common goal of keeping every single person in your transport operations safe and alive.”

Choosing an accredited provider means that you can rest assured that the delegates on the course will receive training that has been tailored and specifically designed to achieve measurable improvements to your business efficiency, risk and safety.

To achieve this accreditation, a training provider is continually audited (both the company and instructors) to confirm they are maintaining the durations and ratios set by RTITB as well as the high training standard that providers are expected to adhere to.

On completion of training:

Delegates that achieve a pass in their course can not only leave with a sense of pride in what they have accomplished but can also maintain this standard by being registered on the National Operators Register or NORs (Shield automatically register you on the completion of your course)

Companies know that when a delegate achieves a pass through an accredited provider, they have completed all measurable tests (set by RTITB) to confirm that they are competent to use the machine. This means a potential reduction in onsite accidents as well as improved operator performance

Shield will also maintain a company’s training record by reminding them every three years of recommended refresher training (to maintain a delegates NORs).
